Interior Design School Review
All interior designers exercise creativity and vision when working on projects. Those who specialize in entertainment design must also consider some needs unique to that type of work.
Entertainment design is a growing specialty within commercial interior design. Each venue - a casino, night club, hotel, or theater - has its own special needs. For example, in night club interior design, the designer must keep in mind that the night club wants patrons to be able to meet each other and to feel comfortable enough to stay a while. The designer must take into account things such as lighting and traffic flow, as well as color choices, seating height, and so on.

Design with a Theme
A casino or resort hotel might have a theme that must be carried out through the whole property. "Designing a themed project requires an intensive effort," according to "Life is But a Stage: Themed Environments" from the Dezignare Interior Design Collective. Some things to be considered include space planning, architectural details, special props and lighting, interior finishes, and exterior environments.Vision to Reality
Entertainment designers, perhaps more so than residential designers, must be able to work well with others. "Entertainment design is highly collaborative, bringing together every kind of discipline and breaking down their usual boundaries.... [Entertainment designers] also have to use their professional skills to help bring this shared vision of the project into reality," according to Marty Borko in "The Changing Nature of Entertainment Design."Those involved in entertainment design have many of the same concerns as those in residential or other types of design, with the added challenge of designing using a theme or to suit large numbers of patrons. They also have the chance to see their design vision come to life on a large scale.
