Finding mentors can be one of the most important things you get out of interior design school.
Mentors can be great friends and sources of wisdom in your life and career. Build one-on-one relationships with experienced designers who are willing to guide you, and you’ll have resources that will be invaluable throughout your interior design career. Here are just a few of the times in your interior design career when you might need those mentors you found in interior design school.

When You Need Design Inspiration
If you’ve chosen your mentors well, you admire their work. When you’re not popping with ideas of your own, you can examine their work and find details and ideas that move you, and possibly talk to them about those ideas. Throughout your career in interior design you’ll be able to turn to your mentors for advice – whether it’s about figuring out what kind of interior design specialty might suit you, deciding whether or not you should go solo, or networking to land a contract. By the time you’ve built relationships with mentors, they’ve seen you at your best and your less-than-best.
