"CELEBRATE DESIGN. STIMULATE BUSINESS" is the mantra of NeoCon, the annual design event that's a must-see for designers who want to be up on the hot new interior design ideas. Among the thousands of exciting and products introduced this year are these high-impact wall coverings:

Fabulous Fabrics for Commercial Interior Design

Familiar fabrics, boldly rethought, emerged from NeoCon with real star power. Your designer's imagination will fly when you embrace these exotic patterns and colors.
  • Maharam showed NeoCon attendees a rich golden wool, silk, and heath blend called Drenth Heath.
  • Luna Textiles exhibited the op-art inspired Geometric Hoop, another polyester-cotton blend, from its Chromatic collection.
  • Creative director Heather Bush took her design team to New York tattoo parlors as research for Carnegie's innovative Tattoo collection. This textile line, aimed to please hip young urban professionals, should please commercial interior designers.

Powerhouse Patterns for Interiors Rock Your Design Ideas

Bold geometrics in standout colors top the list of new interior design must-haves from NeoCon 2005. The walls you design won't just be eye-candy, however. Look for wall coverings to be fade-resistant and environmentally-friendly.
  • Designtex launched its Sustainable Performance collection with a 100 percent recycled polyester graphic pattern called Epiphany. The design offers bold verticals and comes in thirteen colors
  • Yangki designer Sondra Alexander brought the aptly named Cosmos to the show. Its freeform dot patterns--some bold, some hazy--look like constellations against the dark patent-leather or laquered-vinyl background.
  • Chilewich, known for its vinyl and woven placemats, exhibited By the Yard, a stain-resistant textile for any surface that comes in thirty colors and nature-inspired varieties like Bamboo, BasketWeave, Grass Cloth, and Wicker.

  • These cutting edge wall converings just might take your client's breath away and make you the most memorable commercial interior designer in town.
