Oh, Baby! Nursery Design Meets Home Interior Needs

Brangelina baby mania will strike any day now, though the world's most beautiful family has retreated to Namibia to await their blessed event. Celebrity babies suddenly seem to be everywhere. Chris and Gwyneth have a new one. Brittney's going to have another, apparently. In an irony suggestive of cosmic design, Katie Holmes birthed Tom Cruise's daughter on the same day and in the same hospital as Brooke Shields had her own little girl. Can your design business boom along with these babies? Yes, if your emphasis is on home nursery interior decorating.

Nursery Design: Home Interior Decorating's Latest Niche Market

If you're thinking of design school and you love residential interior decorating, you can have a career devoted to designing for kids. So say new moms--and San Francisco home interior decorating entrepreneurs--Melissa Pfeiffer, Alison Wing, and Pazit Kagel. The three set out to offer upbeat, contemporary nursery designs intended to compete with the bright primary colored plastic and the terminally lacy Victorian looks of 95% of today's home nursery interior decorating market. Their business, Modernseed, offers nontraditional, tasteful home decorating in a Web store devoted to children's and baby design products.

Superstar Home Decorating Ideas for Kids Rooms

Granted, the contemporary market in children's furniture has flourished with the attention brought on by the celebrity baby boom. Good news for many in design; home interior decorating for babies is becoming increasingly "green" with attention to children's health paramount. Some of this green, however, comes with a hefty price tag. But fans of home decorating shows that copy pricey interiors for less can treat upscale designers like Europe's "Design Within Reach" as role models. While you're thinking about home interior decorating for kids, make "non-toxic" your mantra.

When Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's newest child heads to school, the baby market will still be booming. If your home decorating talents are kid-friendly, and you're thinking about design school, do consider a career in home nursery interiors.
