How can interior decorating tips help your child to experience educational growth at school?
The White House has announced reports indicating progress in reading and math in American schools. Average scores on reading tests were 2 points higher than in 1992 for grades 4 and 8. Math scores are still better with a 26 point improvement since 1990 for fourth-graders and 16 points for eighth-graders.
Interior Design Ideas to Promote Effective Study
It is proven that it is much easier for a student to focus on homework when they have one specific spot designated for that task alone. The following common sense interior design tips can help you create a study area that is well-planned and conducive to academic achievement:.- Be sure there is a desk area for each child.
- Insure there is sufficient lighting at the desk.
- Have the desk face into a wall or other blank space.
- Close proximity to a window is an excellent idea but be sure your child’s main focus is not drawn to any distractions from outside.
- Stock the desk area with all implements your child will need and arrange them in easy to locate ways.
- Make it a fun and comfortable space, but also a place that has only that one purpose.
- If a computer is part of the work space, plan it so that your child can alter positions for using the computer for entertainment purposes.
It doesn’t take a lot of money or effort, just some simple interior design tips to help your child get the most out of their after school study time. With a little effort and planning, your child will be meeting or exceeding the national progress averages in no time.
