According to a CNN interview with Kathy Ireland, Americans spent over $200 billion in home interior improvements in 2004. The cost of interior design is often high, so many people look for ways to improve their home interior decorating without spending a lot. Below are some interior design tips to help the aspiring home interior decorator save money.
Whether you're looking to decorate your daughter's bedroom or give the family den a whole new look, there are several home interior decorating ideas that can give a room a whole new look for little money.
Low-Cost Home Interior Decorating Tips
Painting: Want a new look for the bedroom? Consider using paint. Half a gallon of paint doesn't cost much, but it can revamp the look of an old bookshelf or dresser.Thrift Shopping: Looking for a new shelf decoration or desk pencil holder? Try shopping at thrift stores or yard sales. These places often have items such as picture frames, mugs or decorative glasses, old maps, rugs, and other items that can add just the right touch to a room without costing too much.
Homemade Wall Decorations: Go to the fabric store and pick out a piece of fabric that you like. Wrap this tightly around a wood board, staple the ends of the fabric tightly to the back, and voila! You have a piece of modern art.
Window Decorating: Don't worry about spending a lot for drapes or curtains. Bed sheets are fairly cheap, can be hung as curtains, and come in a wide variety of colors and designs. They'll keep people from seeing in your home, and most light-colored sheets will still let some sunlight in. v
These are just a few home interior decorating tips. If you're serious about interior design, and would like not only to redesign your home but offer tips to others as well, look into getting a formal education in interior design. In no time, you'll be the interior designer offering the decorating tips.
