Everyone loves to throw wonderful summer parties. However, the cost of party supplies and decorating can break your budget. Here are some great interior home decorating tips for planning for your big party.
Some Basic Interior Home Decorating Principles to Apply
- Anticipate high traffic areas and keep those free from clutter.
- Pick a theme and build around it.
- Make use of carpet runners or plastic runners to protect floors near potential messy spots such as food service tables.
- If any of your party activities require light for reading or game play, be sure you arrange for adequate lighting for that area.
A Few Ways to Keep Decorating Inexpensive
- Check your recycling for supplies to make your own decorations. Margarine containers can become patio lanterns, newspapers make nice palm trees, and netting from produce can be used for nautical theme decorations.
- Some paint and scissors can turn cardboard boxes into some great theme buildings such as castles, pirate ships, and robots.
- Make balloon animals or figures to suit your party theme.
- Decorate with food by sculpting fruit, ice blocks, and decorating cakes and deserts to match your theme.
Outdoor Home Decorating Tips for Barbecues
If you’re taking your party outdoors, get inventive with furniture options that will fit the mood and won’t cost a fortune.- Use straw bales (available from local farms) for seats.
- Use sawhorses and plywood to make tables that you can cover with inexpensive paper or remnant cloths.
- Fill the kiddie pool with ice to serve as beverage cooler.
- Fringe simple crepe paper to give a grassy effect to edge tables.
Above all keep it fun. Don’t get so involved in the interior home decorating for your party that it drives you crazy!
