There are a few people who love the absolute sterile effect some modern minimalist interior design styles can have. However, most of us prefer a clean, sophisticated look with a touch of warmth for our homes. Here are some handy interior decorating tips and ideas to help you achieve exactly the look you desire.
Interior Design Tip #1: Add Warmth with Color
The notion of using color to melt the somewhat austere feel of today’s modern designs is far from new. The impulse that you need to fight is the idea that only stark whites, blacks and metallic colors are pure enough to sustain the clean look.In reality, you are sure to find that there are many pleasing shades of brown, beige, taupe, and sand to breathe a little life into the room. Also, when it comes to accents and decorative pieces, find one or two stunning pieces in a fabulously eye-catching shade. Let them be the spark to set the whole room aglow.
Another interior decorating idea: use high gloss black to define those clean lines. The glossy black will keep the more sedate tones from blending into oblivion.
Interior Design Tip #2: Add Comfort with Shape
This interior design idea is meant to be very subtle. The clean lines of modern styles are one of the attracting features and the last thing we want to do is to muddy that. Fortunately there is room to add a little softness that will set off those clean lines. For instance, selecting dining room chairs with a slight swell to the front line can add just the right softness. Perhaps an exquisitely curvaceous vase or lamp base would be ideal. The idea here is to keep the softening agents almost subliminal. If you're willing to shake up your minimalist look, you can use these interior decorating ideas to strike the perfect balance that will make your modern style home truly livable.
