Nothing can do more to spoil your Christmas decorating experience than dealing with tangled or broken light strings. Damaging your walls while putting holiday lights up is a close second. Here are some interior design tips that will make this seasonal decorating of your home a breeze.
Suction Clips for Windows
Everyone loves putting Christmas lights up in their windows, but glass is a tricky surface on which to affix lights. Tape can succumb to window dampness and nails or tacks are likely more damaging to the window frame than you would like. Suction cup hooks--clear plastic suction cups with small metal hooks--make a very good home interior decorating tool for Christmas lighting.Adhesive Clips for Wood or Painted Surfaces
This is a great innovation and interior design tip for your home this Christmas: use adhesive clips. Adhesive manufacturers have developed adhesives that will not damage the surface to which they are applied.Outdoor Clips and Stakes
To make it easy to head outdoors with your lighting projects, there are many plastic clips and stakes that will hold your lights securely in place. Gutter clamps, shingle shims, and siding slides are all fabulous options which are easy to install and don't damage surfaces. Be sure to get a bit of a head start on these outdoor design projects--even if it means putting off interior design projects. You'll save yourself the discomfort of having to spend long hours outdoors in bad weather.Light Storage Devices
Much of the annoyance of Christmas lights comes from improper storage. Light strings are easily tangled, broken, and rendered useless. When purchasing your fasteners for putting up the lights, invest in some light wrap handles, rollers, and light containers. With just a few home interior design tips you can make Christmas decorating the warm, pleasant experience it was meant to be.
