Upgrading your bathroom is one of the best ways to increase a home's value. A bathroom with updated interior design style shows off this much-used room. Design in the bathroom should be both functional and comfortable. Here are ten tips for decorating a bathroom that will impress:
- Find a theme. Whether its country cottage, modern, island, or Tuscan, nothing brings an interior decorating scheme together like a well-chosen theme.
- Match faucets and fixtures. Choosing faucets and fixtures that match each other and the rest of the bathroom style is essential.
- Get creative with countertops and tile. It is easy to find interesting surface products at specialty stores. A bold floor or counter color will add a contemporary twist to your bathroom.
- Use ample vanity lighting. Vanity lighting brightens up your bathroom and gives you a chance to use unusual light fixtures.
- Hang a stylish mirror. The mirror is another essential bathroom decorating element. Choose a framed mirror that compliments the counter and sink.
- Use a bathroom storage cabinet. Available in antique and modern styles, storage cabinets create space in the bathroom.
- Bring art to the bathroom. If properly selected, a unique painting or a series of photographs will personalize your bathroom design style.
- Change curtain and towel colors with the seasons. This is the simplest way to vary the color and mood of a bathroom.
- Go to interior design school. Getting an interior design degree at design school is the best way to learn the skills you need to design beautiful bathrooms.
- Take a course in kitchen and bath design. While at interior design school, or even if you're a working professional, formal school training in kitchen and bath design will increase you bathroom design skill set.
