An Interior Decorating Idea: Use Dolls

One of the first lessons in interior decorating school is: "Look at the small things as well as the large things." In other words, anyone can paint walls and move furniture, but it takes a trained eye to come up with those very special interior decorating ideas.

One of the more creative teachers in interior decorating school used to test students by showing a room that seemed complete with regard to the standards of home interior decorating. Then she would make everyone close their eyes. "What is different?" she would ask when they opened their eyes.

Lots of wrong guesses

People always guessed obvious interior decorating ideas like "more light" and "you changed the colors." The truth of the matter is that she just added five or six very small touches to the supposedly completed room. Her favorite items were dolls.

Not for children only

Dolls are much more than simply children's toys. They serve as symbols and decorative elements in almost every culture in the world. Now they also have become a very chic home decorating idea. In fact, dolls of various sizes and styles have become such a popular element in home interior decorating that they are sold in home design galleries.

Dolls: an interior decorating idea with charm

Because dolls take the form of living things, both animals and people, they can add a certain amount of warmth to a room. One or more dolls casually draped over the top of an armchair or sitting on a shelf can give a special look to a space. You can dress the dolls in fabrics that match or complement the colors of the walls, drapes, or upholstery in the room.

Add a few dolls from other countries for a particularly sophisticated interior decorating idea.
